The popular teen drama ‘Sex Education’ is back with its highly anticipated fourth and final season on Netflix. The show has been gaining much attention because of its open discussion theme and connection with the youth. The first three seasons of the series were highly appreciated and managed to remove the awkwardness revolving around ‘taboo’ topics such as sex, female desires, erectile dysfunction, vaginismus and much more.

Sex Education Season 4 has a great storyline that manages to grab the audience. It explores the problems of each character in a subtle yet efficient manner. The sexual tension between Otis and Maeve, who is attending a writing college in the US, is a little floppy. Otis is struggling both psychologically and professionally. While also teaming up with the newest trans power couple Abbi and Roman, Eric is attempting to reconcile his religion with his queerness and explore whether they can coexist. Aimee and Isaac start an unexpected bond, Adam is figuring out what it’s like to be an openly bisexual man outside of school, Cal is debating moving forward with their gender identity, and Jean is having a difficult time juggling her responsibilities as a single mother. Other characters in the series are also explored efficiently.

The daring writing of the show represents a vast LGBTQ+ characters to enhance inclusivity. As the series matures alongside the students, season four places more emphasis on examining identities and relationships than on sex. After their old school, Moordale is shut down due to the scandals from the previous season, they are forced to attend the new and more modern Cavendish College. Surprisingly little sex is shown in the series in this final season.

The Cavendish institution emphasizes kindness and mental wellness while also providing yoga, daily meditation, silent discos, and sound baths. Sex Education is a nice comedy that honours the culture’s hyper-worthiness while also subtly mocking it. Trans narratives are featured more prominently this season. It’s a school where the favoured power couple is transgender Roman and Transfem Abbi. The first encounter with a non-binary character Cal was in the previous season.

Overall the trending drama series has managed to maintain a great sense of inclusion while also not deviating from the fantastic plot. There is love, drama, confusion, breakups, heartbreaks, introspection and to sum it up, Teenage.
